Bring with you

  • Identity and work-authorization documents for the I-9: a passport, or a driver's license and a Social Security card. Originals, not copies.
  • A voided check or your bank's direct deposit letter, if you want direct deposit.
  • Names and phone numbers of two emergency contacts.
  • Work boots. The company provides the harness, hard hat and other PPE.

Your first week

  1. Paperwork: W-4, I-9, direct deposit and emergency contacts.
  2. Safety orientation: fall protection, ladders, and the site rules.
  3. Meet your crew lead and ride along on a job.
  4. Workplace notices: your paid sick leave, your pay schedule and how overtime works.
  5. Benefits: the plans you can join and the deadline to enroll.
